Workshops August and September 2008

   

The Lewis & Clark Exploratory Center is located in Darden Towe Park at the Keelboat Barn. Hours are Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 12-4, weather permitting. General admission is $3 per person and includes a tour of the full-size keelboat replica, carpentry for kids, and other activities. Call 434-979-2425 or email lewisandclark@lewisandclarkeast.org for more information or to make reservations for our special workshops. Scouting groups welcome.

Beading and Painting Workshop
All ages welcome. Participants complete two projects: a bracelet and a painting based on a Lewis & Clark drawing. Space limited. Reservations suggested. Standard admission.

Saturday, September 6th, 10-12 AM
Boat Building Workshop
Come work on a life-size model of the White Pirogue, which Lewis & Clark took up the Missouri along with the Keelboat. Training in using a power drill will be included. 12 spaces for children 8-14. Reservations Required. Standard admission.

Sunday, September 7th, 1:30-2:30 PM
Beading and Painting Workshop
Make your own necklace in this workshop inspired by the beads Lewis & Clark carried with them on the Keelboat. Reservations required. Admission plus $3 activity fee.

Keelboat Voyage of Discovery
Wearing costumes, kids reenact parts of the Lewis & Clark journey, including
being aboard the Keelboat, hiking and journaling, and making a shingle for a fort. Space limited. Reservations suggested. Standard admission.
